Cannington Manor Provincial Historic Park

Cannington Manor Provincial Historic Park offers a genuinely unusual window into Saskatchewan's past — the story of an idealistic English settlement that attempted to transplant Victorian upper-class life onto the raw Canadian prairie in the 1880s. Founded by Captain Edward Pierce, the community attracted English gentlemen settlers who brought cricket bats and fox hunting hounds alongside their farming tools, creating an unlikely cultural experiment in the southeastern corner of the territory.

Today, costumed interpreters bring the site to life during the summer season, guiding visitors through reconstructed buildings and sharing the stories of the families who tried and ultimately failed to sustain their English way of life on the prairie.
