Cumberland House Provincial Park sits at the heart of Saskatchewan's most historically significant community — the province's oldest continuously inhabited settlement, established by Samuel Hearne of the Hudson's Bay Company in 1774 on Pine Island in the Cumberland Lake wetland system. The park provides camping and day-use access to a landscape woven through with history, from the early fur trade through Métis settlement.

The lake system is outstanding for fishing, particularly walleye and northern pike, and the extensive wetlands surrounding the park are among the most productive waterfowl habitats in western Canada. The nearby community of Cumberland House adds genuine character to a visit, with its deep Métis roots and living connection to the history that surrounds it.
